Here is my entry for the latest Weekend Challenge, 'All Alone'.

This is my first try at compositing with Blender. All comments and critiques are welcomed.

Thanks to WeirdHat for his excellent compositing tutorial.

That is very nicely composited. Extremely realistic. Will it count as pure?

very good composited , the only thing i would mention is that the shadows aren't dark enough, that would be great .

It's almost perfect, but I think the ledge should have made a shadow that almost makes the bottom leg black, since it's hugging so close to the side. Otherwise perfect.

Thanks. I have been told it will count as Open, not sure really. I guess it must be open since more square centemeters of the image are "non-blender"... do 50% alpha shadows count as 50% Blender... I wonder???

Thanks, glad you liked it.
Agree about the dark shadows bit.

Yes the leg is something I need to work on. It will probably take a more complex ligting setup to get the leg to be blacker witout totally darkening all the shadow areas... will work on that at leisure.

WHat I would do for the leg is to put a mesh box where the bar is in the picture. Then i would set the material so that the alpha was 0.00(with ztrans on) and just leave tracable on. That should cast a good shadow on your leg.

Also, do you have your little dude casting a shadow on the ledge?... cause if you do I can't see it.

Sweet picture man.

Thanks, for the tip. I have posted an update with better shadows on the leg. A layer exclusive lamp did the trick. And, the little guy is casting a shadow on the ledge, but the diffused light that I have emulated coming from the white wall outside has lightened it.

Didn't really notice that myself, but I can try it out with a bigger OSA setting. I kept it on a low setting so that the figure does not stand out from the very sharp and textured objects in the photograph.

Thanks for all the comments guys. Here is an updated image with better shadow casting on the leg.

Absolutley beautiful composite work. I actually had a very, and I mean very, similar idea to this one. But, I didn't even get it started.

Great work. But, for the sake of clarity, I would let the original lightin on the leg stand. It just dissappears now.

Yay! Less competition!
Thanks for the compliment BgDM, although I would like to see your version one day.

Thanks. I see your point about the leg... maybe I need to find a safe medium between the two.

Thanks for your encouraging comments everyone.
