This week's theme: Antigravity

Pure Entries cipix Desoto
 • By we can call it finished just for fun. The antigravity part is the flying ship and the thing it just finished sucking up in that tractor beam. It was JUST about to fly away when I snapped this picture with my 35mm Blender.

I take Modron's pic. It seemed the most obvious

A toss up between Cipix and Sornen except I don't like the smoke on Sornen's so I'm going Cipix

a lot of great entry's this round.

Blackwing, looks pretty good but something about it makes me lose interest.Maybe because the buildings are sitting on dirt/grass and all buildings(&windows) seem to be the same texture which makes it seem dead/ghost city.A floating city full of life would have been cool IMO.

Cipix's Levitating monk shows some great modeling.Well done.

Desoto ,I like the light's on the UFO,I think the scene could have used some grass and maybe a cow being abducted :P

DracoFodder ,Interesting reflections and Ufo design.

GreyDog ,Nice.I've seen a floating magnetic globe similar to that one.It didn't need to be plugged in though.

Modron ,I like it great overall Si-if feel to it

niknah ,I love it!great overall concept, modeling, lighting. But the only thing that bug's me is the sun Halo which doesn't match the rest of the scene.Great job!

NQE1 ,I like the grass, but IMO your scene could have used better overall lighting.

olivS ,Interesting.. :-? Does that come with bacon :P .Until we invent anti gravity eggs, thats what will happen.

PlantPerson ,nice.I like it.

sornen ,I like the lighting and small details.nice over all feel.

superx10 ,I really like the whole concept. The negative effect on the seat material is awesome.

wah_tak ,I love it.show's some great imagination.Lighting/material/scene is great.

wasabi ,Hhmm.

mongrol ,very funny. But I dont understand what your character is that makes him magnetic.

For me Overall/ niknah ,superx10 ,wah_tak ,cipix / I choose Wah_tak

And that smoke took ages to do as well .

Lots of good entries, my favorites are super10x, a nice clean render, cipix, good modelling, olivS, good idea and render and niknah. I really like the artistry shown by niknah, its nicely balanced and very dynamic composition, so that gets my vote.

Cipix had some excellent modelling, but it just doesn't cut it for me :-? . wah_tak had a cool idea, but niknah's was the one that made me go "woah". 8)

Late late late... I had an idea for this wc and something like three and a half hours to attempt it.

so here is my non-participating entry

magic antigravity

Maybe Theeth can add this to the list of entries under nonparticipating. TIA

99% pure with contrast slightly adjusted in post.

Lots of entries, I'll check them all out !

Voted for Wah-tak.. very cool idea that struck me as interesting. I didn't like the levitation scene much.. not enough stuff happening. Robert's entry is of course amazing. Modron - this isn't your best work my friend! But nice design nikah's was teh funniest to me. I suppose that gets points.

Cool entries. I was going to enter but I didn't, as the more observant of you may have noticed.

wah_tak - my vote goes to you. I think you illustrated the idea the best.

Blackwing: there's almost a mood, but I think you hesitate between realistic-like and toon-like...
Cipix: good job on the modeling, but the folds of the clothes look like stiff and unnatural... for now! I hope you'll finish this one, the concept was interesting!
Desoto: it has a good humoristic potential, too bade you couldn't make more progress on it
DracoFodder: you still have to do a fair amount of work on the sea (there are many tutorials on this topic) but it's a good start... For the halos, you could have mapped them on planes so that they reflectin the sea, but I guess that on a real sea, there's not much reflection unless it's very calm
GreyDog: nice texturing work, simple things work better! perhaps some sort of halo, particles field and such was missing under the globe to make the picture more appealing
Modron: a quickie, hmm? I love the composition, though, and especially the close-up on the escort spheres...
niknah: unlike others, I feel the composition is umbalanced, but I can hardly explain why, sorry... very well modeled and posed, though...
NQE1: the sky plugin could have been helpful in your case. You need a fill light to enhance the lighting, and/or perhaps a area light of great dimensions, and/or AO along with the rest.
PlantPerson: the scene is interesting, but I'm not sure how it should work in CG. I'd have used the zblur plugin or something, and worked slightly on the surface texture of teh spheres, but it was a hard challenge to turn this scene into 3D
Sornen: good modeling, texturing and lighting, but I feel that there's too much in your scene, the eye wanders from here to there, hesitating on each object. I feel it lacks a focal point (suggested by some focal blur, or highlights of some sort?).
superx10: good job on ùmodeling and good use of the glow plugin. perhaps it's too much? Nevermind, it served well the purpose.
wah_tak: pleasing idea, but because of the post-pro I wouldn't consider it Pure. If you had time, more work on the particles for the smoke and a slight use of the Motion Blur should have make it Pure.
Wasabi: too simple to comment really. More work on the color balance and the lighting, perhaps?
mongrol: very funny

I voted for Cipix, as many people here

Good work all, it was an interesting topic, and the subject has been dealed with in such various ways it was pleasant to compete and follow

guilty as charged, the texture for the sphere took the most time.

Wow, so many entries
I won't comment on everything because I'm too lazy :P

Cipix: you did a really good job on modeling, that monk is great.
--
Desoto: I like the cartoonish feel of your image. But as SIN said, I would have been much funnier with a cow being abducted
--
olivS: nice idea, but the eggs shells still look a bit strange
--
PlantPerson: Magritte! I love his paintings. I think the sea could be improved, but that's really good.
--
wah_tak: You really have the most interesting and original idea IMHO. I just love that floating rock. And I looked at the image before and after the post-pro, and I could hardly see the changes you made (except for the text, ahah) , so unlike olivS I'll really consider this as a pure entry. Original idea, good modeling, you got my vote
--
mongrol: original idea too, i like the little guy expression.

My vote went to Modron. I dunno why. I just liked it.

I attempted to make an entry, but its nowhere near complete, cause I'm a slow slow slow noob.

My idea was a group of fat sagging aliens wearing hippie clothes and holding signs saying "Newton was a liar" and "The laws of Gravity are unfair". Get it?

I experimented a little with noise, but I decided I liked it better as it was. It doesn't look exactly like the painting, but it looks the way I wanted it to!

I went with NQE1

Thanks for the vote PlantPerson. I had to go with superx10.

P.S. I know the lighting was horrible on mine. It took twelve hours to render (for some reason) and I didn't have time to fix anything.

I vote on NQE1, I found the idea most original.

Although wah_tak was also one of my favourite.

cipix was beautifully modeled but it still lacked that originality, the little spark that just might make me vote for it.

Thanks for the kind words Desoto.

A big thanks Theeth for adding mine to the lineup!

Nice variety of entries. Great to see more participants.

I voted for Cipix. Excellent character and interpretation of the theme.
