http://www.honda.co.jp/WebPlamo/

Get them while they're hot.

DXF & LWO formats available.

Unfortunately, you need to download each object of each model individually, and then import each piece as dxf into Blender.

Click on the image of a particular model, then download the DXF file. Download each model into it's own directory as the names are the same for each object.

The whole site is in Japanese, but the links are resolved in english in the bottom left corner of your browser.

Enjoy,

Sonix.

This is perfect! I was planning to learn to model cars in the near future. I can examine these to find out how some people do it. Thanks!

What I didn't realise is that you can import the LWO files into Blender, as well as the dxf versions, as long as you have a full Python install.

Em... are any of you getting any quality file ?
Here the DXF are a mess of random parts that event AutoCAD (2006) won't open and the LWOs crash Blender when I try to pass them into EditMode although they look pretty bad until they do.

Nice! Thanks for the tip. I see ASIMO (the robot) comes in DXF and OBJ.

Would be nice if they'd offer a bundled model (i.e. all parts in one go)...

Only with the LWO files, which I can't edit in Blender without a crash.

I've been importing them to Blender then exporting to Max to edit the meshes.

I'll try and recompile working versions for download, that can be edited in Blender.

Here's a .blend of the Honda NX motorcycle:

No textures/materials, just the model. Enjoy! (I may post others, if/when I download & import 'em...)

Thanks for the link, good resource for learning!

IamInnocent: I'm not sure AutoCAD would import 3D dxf models, it's basically a 2D CAD program. Autodesk's 3D programs are Mechanical Desktop and Inventor.

Have you ever had a render, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that render? How would you know the difference between the rendered world and the real world?

Thanks Mzungu for the getting the bike together. Turned out more complex than I imagined, as at least the materials are still buried in the file. In Edit mode > Remove doubles, followed by Mesh > Scripts > Trias to quads and there they are...why, or how I don't know. If you look in the Outliner window, you'll see all the info there. Another mystery to crack?

Not the intention of course, but you get really spacey grafics if you Alt-S before you remove doubles :P

Thanks for the tips, patdog... I'd no idea that any shaders were imported! (Hadn't bothered to look at the outliner yet.) I'll try to update my posted blend when I get a chance.

If anyone else puts other assemblies together from the site, be sure to post blends for others to use! (just saves troubles, 'n all...)

BTW, has anyone tried to use uaraus' LWO import script on these? Seems to do pretty well with other LWOs, so thot I'd ask...

Whenever I click on any object to download, I just get taken over to another page showing something else, typically with links to other model pages. How do you download the files?

1st: click the thumbnail of the model you want to download,

2nd: click the thumbnails of the individual parts for that model, and when these thumbs are clicked,

3rd: each part's page comes up containing two download "buttons" for getting the zip files, 1 each for DXF and LWO formatted mesh data. You gotta go thru this with each part of each model...

This is why the first post said:

so you bumped the thread becuase you can't import .lwo into 3ds max?

[or obj... I didn't check which one asimo comes as]

there are bunches of convertors out there, like crossroads or polytrans, that ought to be able to convert to a format you want or import directly into max.
