Hallo everyone,

I am working on BlenderCE (http://blenderce.blogspirit.com/), a port of Blender for PocketPC and in the next days, I will submit my first built.

Are some people interested in macking images for this project. A sort of splash screen that will appear on my blog to immediatly show people what is this project, without reading lot of things :=)

You can find here the example of the previous NaN port...
http://download.blender.org/document...LENDERING.html

Thanks for your help, and I hope that BlenderCE will inspire you :=)

See you,
Salvatore

Ah ah :=)

I will update my blog with the new screenshoots with the downloads. But the best way to have an oppinion will be to download and try :=)

Are there people wanting to make a picture to illustrate BlenderCE? Something like the Monkey trying to exit from a PocketPC... or the Monkey blending with a PocketPC but with big fingers :=) Or a PocketPC fighting against a workstation, both running Blender... or an army of PocketPC facing a single Desktop computer...or whatever your inspiration can suggest...

Feel free, whatever your imagine is welcome.

See you,
Salvatore

Hi,

Good, I hope I could soon add your image on the blog :=)

Concerning the symbian version, I don't have such a machine and I don't have any idea how easy it would be... but I know that OpenGL ES is available for this OS and there are no reasons that my OpenGL wrapper doesn't work. So on openGL point of view, it will not be so difficult. But for the rest, I don't know... Blender uses some libraries that need to be ported... And for a mobile phone, the screen size will also be a difficulty. But the Blender UI is very flexible... For pocketPC, I could use it changing only few things...
I someone wants to do it, i can transmit my sources and answer his questions :=)

See you,
Salvatore

First idea:

Hopefully I'll get a little more time during the week to put together something better.

Size is a little extreme, but I figured it would give you freedom to scale if you want to use it...

Ha ha :=)

I like this image! Would it be possible to have a version where "BlenderCE" is more visible? Let me know as soon as you consider that I can put your image on my Blog. For the moment, we don't have splash screen on BlenderCE... but after having solved more urgent issues (like save/load), I will switch on rendering and see also for the splash screen.

Thanks for your help,
Salvatore

Shouldn't it be 320x240 max? To fit to 90 % of PDA displays?

Or is it all just an illusion...

Hello Guys,

Cool!! I didn't thought BlenderCE will have so many pictures :=) If you want to make an image, don't hesitate, I will post them on my Blog to illustrate the project.
For the moment, I don't plan to include them in BlenderCE but I will do it when BlenderCE will be more reliable.

Concerning a Zaurus/Linux port, I really think it will could be not difficult if someone wants to do it! You could use my wrapper running on top of OpenGL ES for all OpenGL stuff...

Thanks for your images! Very cool images!

See you,
Salvatore

russose, if you want more useful pictures, I suggest you make a template much like the one for the official bf builds, with a fixed size etc. It will be easier for people to see if their design is still good at the actual size!

it's inspiring to see how dedicated you have been to porting blender! Keep up the good work! I was reading about the One Laptop Per Child project the other day and was thinking about a stripped version of Blender for it. It would be awesome if your work/experience could somehow contribute to a successful port!!!

Hallo inktvlek,

For the template, for the moment, every idea are welcome :=)

I also hear about this project, with small configuraton. Of course Blender will be able to run for such a laptop. And if someone wants to port it, he will probablly compile Blender without problems.

I also hear that these laptop will not have FPU?! I can not believe it but if it is true, there will only be able to run OpenGL ES and not OpenGL... And here, my wrapper will make the gap between OpenGL ES and OpenGL for Blender :=) I will be really happy if my work could contribute to other projects. Feel free to ask the sources! For the moment, I am still changing them a lot, that's why there are not available for now.

See you,
Salvatore
