K.i.t.t.

Thanks guys again!

I rendered a bigger version and modified the crash barrier a little.

AMFATY: I have worked with the full scene for about 3 month but not continuously and I deal with a spaceship animation too (it’s still work in progress).

XeroShadow: At first I tried with horizontal led sensor but I did not like that.

ryanjohnsond: Yes, I used a particle system for the debris on the ground.

Micheal, are my gears showing? Love it, great work.

Really incredible. A masterful job!

Yes, this is an amazing render. The model looks great!

Hey, great work, totally awesome…
I was wondering if you could tell us a little bit about how you set up the lighting ,especially the environment lighting, which I’m still trying to find out…

Greetings

I like it a lot (great modeling and shading) but I’d like to throw in some constructive criticism.

The hands on the robot look too small to me. I’d like to see them chunkier and meatier as if they are part of it’s offensive arsenal (at the moment they don’t look very scary).

The main thing though is the composition and camera choice. At the moment the picture has the same composition that those bland photos of redneck hunters have when they snap a photo of themselves with their latest kill/trophy. It looks like something the robot would post on facebook. But it could be really dramatic and dynamic like the marketing image of a top ad agency.
I’d move the camera nearer to the front right corner of the car (our right), have the camera really low to the road and then tilt it up so we’re seeing the robot menacingly stamping his dominance over the car. At the same time I’d widen the focal view of the camera to give it more depth, like almost get into fish-eye territory with it so that we see macro details of the front corner of the car and then the robot looming over the back of the car in the background.

Also a sunny blue sky isn’t very exciting and gives the whole image a sterile look. I think it’d be better with wild, greeny-grey, boiling and broiling thunder clouds as if you’re ‘camera’ has caught the moment just before a thunderstorm sweeps in.

They are my thoughts anyway

Thank you!

JPL: My environment setting: http://www.pasteall.org/pic/show.php?id=26581
I used the same panorama sky photo as environment and background. The first image texture in the mix node give the environment lighting and the second is the background. Besides this I used a Sun lamp.
I found here a lot of important and useful information: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Manual/Render/Cycles

Bliz: Thank you for your constructive critics! I absolutely agree with you! I used this camera settings (90mm focal length) because I thought that the robot looks better this way but I will try your settings!
At first I want a blue stormy sky background but when I tried it out the car and the robot looked too dark so I choiced a brighter image which can make brighter reflections on the black car paint (I sucked a lot due to the black car paint  ). I tried to add different images as environment lighting and background but it looked curious. Anyway, the atmospere of the image would be more exciting with an other background.
The hands: Yes, they don’t look very scary! At the end of the modelling I run out of ideas and desperation.

Hey amazing work.
I love the Transformer details. As a CG aficionado I really wondered how the Transformers in the films were actually designed. There is so much of complex inter-fitting parts.
Hats off for your patience and hard work.

Cheers… ::yes:

Absolutely fantastic!

Gallery!!!

Gorgeous!! please can you provide us the wireframe version?!

I am speatchles… :open_mouth: man thats awsome result

This is amazing, you have to teach us about the lighting and compositing.

the model is perfect and very detailed…
but I wonder how it could really happen the transformation between the car and the conformation of the mech

Cool!. And what about the transforming animation?

Thank you guys!!! I am happy you like it

Sorry but I do not plan animation!

I wrote my lighting settings down in my previous comment! I am working on a making of…

Awesome!. At low rez it looks like a real photo with the robot added in cgi. At high rez, I have to agree with bhidlilanimals in that the only thing blowing the photorealism is the guard rail. It just sorta looks cgi, not sure why. It’s all really impressive though, and the wireframe is awesome. What modeling!

Kitt is in a Taiwanese CG magazine. I hope they don’t mind to take a photo from the magazine

A well deserved “top row” as they use to say in zbrushcentral. LOL
Congratulations tomket7. It’s a great scene!

i’m speechless. Good job!
