Likeness Portrait (timelapse included)

So, I will call him nearly finished.
I have a nother postproduction to be done in slight 3/4 point of view.

It doesn’t really look like the original character but I’m happy for a first portrait

The postproduction video will soon be availale.
Hope you’ll enjoy it.

A fascinating and very appealing image, pieriko! The eyes are really catchy.

I still have the feeling that the skin shader could use some tweaking, although I know now that you are recreating a bloodless vampire. The skin needs more softness. There is too much gloss and the AO/Cavity map or effect is to strong in my opinion. Especially the pores on his forehead look like there is dirt in them.

I like the subtle and not overdone SSS effect on the ears, though.

Hi Moniribus, I havn’t reworked the shader as I Have to go on but I’ve tried to make this new postproduction following some of your critics

Here is a close up picture.

Your skin is way to sharp. Needs to be softer. Added some noise to make it more like camera shot.

Try when rendering to use film filter. Like 2px instead of the 1px.

Was it meant to look exactly like him or be inspired by the likeness? If the former, as you seem aware, it doesn’t quite get there. It was enough to tickle my memory but it doesn’t quite make it to a Bill Nighy portrait. Pretty damned good for a first attempt at actor likeness though (I am frankly embarrassed beyond belief at my attempts)

If the latter, well done! It looks pretty good. I’m a big fan of Underworld and I can easily see this fella in the lineup of elder vampires.

It meant to and in a way I’ve failed as explained in the WIP and fomer comments (jaw is oo big, the eyes are too big, he looks way younger and tough).
But in another way, for first attempt as you mentioned, I was pretty satisfied by the result :o
Even if my skin shader and style seems to make a lot of specialist a bit disapointed, I love sharp stuff… grungy skins…

I got featured on IAMAG!

Well done.

I understand the critique about the skin. I think adding some subsurface scattering to the shader would probably fix that up without having to change much else honestly.

Wow, it is wonderful! I like very much the sculpt work and the cloth textures. I prefer your other style, more cartoonish, but it works fantastic. Congrats and thanks for the tutorials.

The more I watch it the more I dislike the skin :frowning:
That’s so werid how, with a few days of breathing and coming back on it, I can see so much problem on it…

Whatever, it was a cool project and a cool training.
Thank you all for your kind words, support, and critics
