The steam at the bottom is footage, however, in the first renders there is a small steam coming out of the long, green piece (When it turns) that was simulated

We used a base topology that worked for many characters, and yes, this base topology was modelled and uv’ed in blender. Also lots of props were modelled and uv’ed in blender. The painted look was a mixture of technices, some blender baking, but also lots of manual painting in different softwares, like zbrush, photoshop and 3d-coat.
