Here’s the .blend for ya. Any suggestions and improvements, especially on the particle hair welcome guys. You’ll notice the skin texture is quite rough (especially the top, back of the head, and ears), I was able to get away with it because of the dark theme. I intend to still improve on it.

LAYERED .psd file.

I reduced it to 2000px. Original was 8000px. Also please note that it’s incomplete and quite rough. But the entire face area is there. I did some work on the right eye, and cloned in the rest of the skin and cloned out the hair for the Grunge theme. But unfortunately I flatenned those layers as I went. Hope this helps guys.

Very nice! The only improvement I can think of, is to make the eyes more glossy, it was the first thing to give it away when I looked at it :slight_smile:

Excellent job! If I had to find a flaw, i’d say the mouth looks a bit too asymmetrical, but honestly its great as is. I’ve gotta find the rest of your work now!

hahah, i just checked ur WIP thread and saw that someone told you to make the lips more asymmetrical! hahah, well i guess your good either way. The other guy is probably more qualified anyways :wink:

BgDM: WOW! Thanks hey, that’s best compliment I got in a long time :slight_smile: You’re right about the resolution of the tattoo, I was meant to still redraw and clean it up, but got lazy :slight_smile: It’s very low res. I think I might fix that up and then just update the renders here.

Just for interest sake here’s a render of the same with the make-up and tattoos removed. Now I also noticed a few more things, like the eyelashes that’s too short, and the bump on the lips I think is too high. I hope to improve on all these things on my next portrait :slight_smile:

It really is a very successful piece you’ve made here. The face looks great and the facial hair (including eyebrows) has been very well executed. :slight_smile: the nose and ear though seems to be just a bit behind the rest of the face… maybe too simple in form or just needing a couple verts pushed or pulled. again though, overall the the face is great.
The one thing that distracts me about the portrait is the earring color or shade really. They stand out as the darkest part of the entire picture. more so than the pupils, top corner, dark city bg, or even eyeshadow. It pulls my eyes to the left of the head instead of giving focus to the face.

What i really like is the expression on the face. Textures look good too. Maybe the eyelashes could need some refinement. But overall great work.

dmancrosse: Thanks hey, I think I understand what you mean but not quite entirely, do you mean there shoulda been more light on the ear and earrings? I think it might be because of the slight AO I used, without it the entire left side is very dark if I remember correctly. The angle of the head render also makes the nose look a bit odd methinks. I must agree with you on that. :slight_smile: Thanks for your comments hey.

Heads up guys, I fixed the low res tattoo (as pointed out by BgDM) and reworked it just a tad. Added links for the updated diffuse map to download on the first post. Updated the renders as well.

Hey Len i really love the way it turned out. it looks really real and you have come far in the WIP. Cant wait to see the other themes youre doing, but what themes are you doing next?

Hey Juggler! Thanks man! I want to do a normal portrait that looks more like the real me, a “AI” (Steven Spielberg) theme with the back half of the head being robot/droid, and a Lord Of The Rings Elf. Maybe also a “Fight Club” theme.

But to be honest at the moment I’m so sick of looking at this face :slight_smile: You know when you stare at something for too long then you almost don’t see it anymore … to trick my mind I’ve mirrored it, flipped it upside down and sideways, made it black and white you name it :slight_smile: I think I’ll put it on ice for the moment and work on something else, I’d like to do a nice looking girl.

The tat is much improved. Really nice now.
