How do you make a character pick up something in a scene? Or put it down? A bottle for instance.
If you parent the bottle to the persons hand, it stays parented to it the whole time, so how do you have the bottle start out sitting still, and then follow the hand when the hand comes and grabs it?
I use 2 copies of the object, one on the table that is on a visible
layer, and one parented to his hand on an invisible layer.
When he picks up the object I make the 2 objects change
layers so that the one in his hand is now visible and the one
on the table goes to the invisible layer (this is done with
layer keys created with the I key).
Man, that layer key solution is great! I’ve been working with blender for about a year and a half and I never even realized that you could do layer keys!
