Removing default turbulence on fluid surface?

I’ve been having my first go with fluids, but have come up against a problem. As a first test, I am dropping a rotated cube into a cube shaped tank of oil. Everything is looking great and just as I would expect, apart from one thing. Before the dropped cube even hits the water, the surface of the oil is rippling quite noticeably. Is there any way to make the fluid surface stay perfectly still (as a tank of oil really would be) until the obstacle hits it? I can’t see any settings for this sort of thing (e.g. ‘background noise’ or ‘Default turbulence’ etc.) so can’t work out what’s causing it…

Maybe you will add more quality if up Resolution to 125 or more.
(Fluid panel Domain >Resolution under Bake btn)
Good luck.

Thanks, I’ll give it a try…

hmm. this sounds familiar, but i’ve not worked with fluids so take my memory with a large grain of salt, k?

bake just the fluid, without droping that obstical in. wait for the surface to smooth out, then tell it to use THAT as the starting position for your fluid sim.
