    but where's the BPPlayer?
Hi, it's on page 1 of this thread: https://blenderartists.org/forum/sho...r-2-78-support BPPlayer 1.07b.

Thanks to the author of BPPlayer

    Bi directional communication *
If you want to stream generic encrypted files (that are not packed into blend files), you will want the new bi-directional communication protocol in v1.08. Unfortunately, v1.08 is still a work in progress and its next release is planned for July.

The only other way to stream generic encrypted files in the current (v1.07b) build would be to import or write your own python library to read/write/encrypt the files yourself (but this would be more work obviously).

    Nice!

Already worked around it for now, but good to know.

At the moment I am using a pickled dictionary and loading it into a kdtree to then look up what tiles to spawn, and build the tiles using copies of 1 tile that is splat mapper , I libNew the mesh, deform height and set vertex color and normal, and Reinstance physics mesh (unique copy upbge).

The normal procedure for using UPBGE is to 1) download UPBGE's blenderplayer, 2) download BPPlayer, 3) place UPBGE's blenderplayer (and files) in the same directory as BPPlayer, and 4) when you generate your block file (in the BPPlayerGUI.exe), make sure to click the "Import Custom Player" button and select UPBGE's blenderplayer.

    So, is this on schedule?

I have been looking at loading in terrain tiles using python, and while ot works, it can't be confused with fast, as it requires iteration, I could probably make it a little faster on my end....

But i think streaming converted game mesh to / from disk should be much faster right?

When you press the "export" button, the GUI passes a config file to the BPPlayer.exe via command line (and then the BPPlayer itself processes the data). However, I thought I patched spaces in the file path, but I guess not.

Until it's fixed, an alternate solution is:
    1) Use the GUI to modify your settings.
    2) go to "Files->Save As (Config File)" and save a config file.
    3) Click and drag your config file into the BPPlayer.exe (or use the command line)
    4) Done

PS: Thanks for the bug report, now I can fix it for the next release.
I know this is a very old bug, but it seems to exist in BPPlayer 1.07b as well. When exporting, I always get a message "Error: Export has failed" like the user a few posts above the quoted answer.
If I use a config file, everything works as it should.

(In fact I don't know if it is the same error, but I get the same error message (not the console error!) and your solution for that error works)

Does the develop have plans to release for linux and mac?

The bug mentioned in that post was resolved in older builds. Unfortunately, I have not been able to reproduce it on any Windows machines. The GUI generates a config file and then pipes the file to BPPlayer.exe, so this error may occur if the GUI cannot find the BPPlayer.exe (for some reason). Does the same error occur if you try to move the GUI folder (and BPPlayer.exe) to the root of C?

Yes. Major portions of v1.08 are currently being rewritten to drastically improve Linux and Mac support. This is one of the reasons why the v1.08 release has been delayed until 2018.

Technically, there were older builds with Linux and Mac support (v1.06 and v1.05). However, those builds were difficult to use (no GUI), and had several limitations compared to the Windows builds.

With gui folder you mean "blendblockConverter"? If I move this folder to the root of C I get the same error. I copied the BPPlayer.exe too. If I remove it from the blendblockConverter folder, I get another error that BPPlayer.exe could not be found, so that doesn't seem to be the problem. I tried it on another computer and I wasn't able to reproduce the error as well. It would be very helpful for future releases to implement some kind of error logs

But that bug isn't a big problem as there is an easy workaround (just open BPPlayer.exe with a config file).

Another question: is the support of encrypting external ressources (textures, sounds, scripts etc.) without packing them into a blend planned for a future release? Because I don't want to pack them, I've written a small script that copies each file to another folder and packs all the ressources into the blends but this is kind of inconvenient. Would be nice

Thanks for your answer and your support
