Free Environment and Architectural Textures

Here are some textures I worked up recently with more to come (I hope). They’re all fairly high quality (most are 1024x1024), but I recommend scaling them down to your needs. No Normal Maps as of yet since I am currently without the ability. Includes 18 textures.

These textrues rock! Thanks for uploading them!

How do I use the normals to make it look 3dish?

well, you can use them as normal maps in the apricot build if you plan on using them in a game, in a render, the apricot build isnt necessary

whoa…those are good. how’d you make normal maps?

lastly, and pretty much off topic, Dim, do you use or know of a tool that spills over with your cursor? like if you draw all the way to the edge of your image, it will spill to the other edge? that would make seamless textures 100000000 times easier.

Ancient flooring reminds of the gauntlet games. i like it. isometric-ish

well what i usually do (in photoshop i presume) is filters>other>offset, which will shift it over a certain amount of pixels and wrap the rest of the imaeg around to the other side, then i paint and fix the seam that is produced, and its basically like the tool you are talking about except with less confusion

also, for normal maps, i use a combination of CrazyBump and the nVidia normal map photoshop plugin filter

@Makin Bacon: Thanks a ton for those. I had CrazyBump Beta, but it expired so I’m SoL.

@All: thanks for critique, and hopefully there are more coming soon.

Top notch textures! I’m no great shakes at making seamless textures, so I really appreciate this(and cant wait for more).

Thanks Dim and Makin Bacon!

Dim, I salute you. Thank you very very much for these.

Yes, use nvida and offest in photoshop. It’s the seamless texture work horse. I also have lots of free textures (500+). See my sig, below. Make your own norms…I did not publish them with the textures.

crazybump make normal maps and other maps too.Its the best

Damn! Thay video looks spectacular! $100 though…maybe later…

isnt it free? I have it.

Demo is. I assume there is a time limit. I will look into it though.

Demos don’t have time limits (trials do) but you can’t use all the features in demos.

@jesus: you probably still have the beta, but it’ll expire eventually.

nice;)
free textures is always a good thing.
and u,ve made a great work whit em.

Updated with 7 new ones.

CrazyBump seems really nice but there is also another way of making normal maps.

Maybe it’s a bit inaccurate and not as good but it can be done in blender itself.

Map your image to the object.
Map the image to Nor Value, 5 should be fine.

Then in edit mode add a new image and Bake the Normals of the Object.
The image should be the normal map.

Then just assign this map to another texture and make sure you select the Normal Map function.

Thats another way to do it, Thats the Blender way to do it;).
