i've done more work on the tree, don't have a screensht right now though.

I'll be getting a GLSL graphics card soon, does anybody want me to add it where it's necessary?
like, making bumps in the snow with bump/normal maps, shadows for real, fake SSS on tux,
etc. mainly I want it for bump maps... they add so much realism, even where they don't belong...

so, GLSL anybody? (and btw why do us blenderheads refer to GLSL and everybody else calls it pixel shaders? i know they're technically diffrent, but...)

If you make GLSL mandatory, then I will no longer be able to play/test.

even if I add glsl, no, I won't make it mandatory. I'll make sure to test ST3D with my old card occaisonally.

Dilopho DD: did you download it ST3D?

ohboy.... irc stands for 'internet relay chat', in the irc model, servers are like buildings and channels are like rooms. channel names always start with a # sigh, st3d's is #supertux3d on freenode.net. if you are curious about getting on this chat room, you should google irssi or xchat or mIRC.

Here's a nice Tux model originally proposed (but seemingly not accepted) for Extreme Tux Racer:

Much nicer than the standard blobby Tux as seen in SuperTux.

wow, cool screenshots! I wish I could play, but I need a linux system... Now that I think about it, I think my dad has the operating system. I'll have to split my harddrive in 2 but that's OK, linux is better then vista.

I'm down with helping out with this. First thing to do is spruce up those textures. I'll download the file and remove those seams, darken the snow a bit or maybe make it an option (on a bright screen it looks like and endless sea of white) I'll see if I can add some shadows to inclined areas, they're right it does look better if you do that. I'll consider doing the dark spots for ground variation too. How many levels do you have done?

I'll probably be working with GLSL, I'll use screenshots until you get a GLSL capable card. If all else fails, I'm sure somewhere around the interwebs there's a cheap card capable, and if you keep working on this, I might just front it. Maybe. Depends on what else you've got.

Anyway, I just like GLSL, sorry.

Edit: I d/l the file. Where is... everything? Didn't have time to upload the blends and all, or are you just not doing that yet?

the download is on page 3 or [HERE] .
i'll have a GLSL card by the end of the week, but if you want to do the GLSL,
make VERY sure to keep the style: as in, don't do too much GLSL, only enough to make it look like st2d.
I kind of want the old-graphics look - so don't go too far beyond st2d. but now that i've scared you away, thanks for offering to help!

I haven't worked on st3d in a few weeks, as I have been busy. I'm starting again now, though...

as for levels.. ahem, I have no levels, but i want to try to make a 3d version of the 2d levels that is still fun...

Well, I don't know about all of the 2d levels. Unless you're making Supertux2...3d. I thought this was for a supertux game that was 3d, as in probably something original. Although, there is something to be said of having all the levels planned out for you.

I do intend to add more levels than just the 2d ones, though. does that balance it out for you?

    Hey!
    I'm back, sorry I haven't posted in a while. : ) ü
I've been busy working on something else of my own.

(Probably going to be working on it for a while now. I got on here because I got board of doing my thing.)

I'm sorry I can't stay longer but I've gotta go!
