An F1 car I always wanted to do (.blend file)

Well, I consider this thing finished.
You can download here the blender file. (You can do whatever you want with the file, even sell it. You don’t need contact me to ask for permission to include it in a game, a movie, a gift, a CD, whatever you want to do you can do it)
Blender 2.49b and luxrender 0.6 used in Ubuntu 64bit.

Looks really great! Very nice detailed texturing. You should look out for the Blender F1 contest when it rolls around.
With the lack of dirt or rust on the metal though, it comes across as a toy. I would suggest adding some dirt and rougher edges, which shouldn’t be hard because it looks like you have a very nice UV setup.
Oh, and I don’t think I’ve seen you around. Welcome to Blenderartists.

You can download the blend file and see that it would not be easy to create a “dirt map” or other things. I agree that some variation would do it more real but I will do it next year when Alonso goes to Ferrari. Then I will create a “real” unwrapping and so being able to create reflexion maps that will give the variation to make it more credible.

looks fine, my only crit is the tires.
they are too light, and that makes them look like plastic
downloading .blend, to see if i can learn anything

Awesome work, I´ll put the Alonso´s car front my hose jejeje.

Saludos

I would love to see that render if you do it !

Fantastic model, good solid usable UV layout and pretty decent render. All in all i think you’ve done a great job here.

Considering that most F1 cars are carbon fiber bodies, I think the body looks fine. No one is gonna let their million dollar car get too dirty, it worsens performance. Something about the coloring of the wheels look a little off, but other than that, it looks great.

Fantastic colors and materials. Great job!

I definitely like it! But of course I am biased … http://www.blenderf1.com

The textures are wonderfully done. I laughed at a F1 car on what looks to be a public street. Imagine that car blasting by as you stood at a crosswalk!
I look forward to your Ferrari model. Alonso, eh?

Ciao for now!

awesome work… theres no way that car would be allowed to get dirty though, it would be permanently spotless. i think the driver would be knocked unconscious driving on a road like that,. nice camera matching though

I have added four new renders to first post of this thread.
Remember there is a link to the blend file in first post.

5 starts, no doubt, but you may want to make the shadow a bit softer

Very nice. It may just be me, but it appears a little noisy in places. May I ask what renderer you are using? I plan on re-rendering this in 1920 x 1080 for my desktop background. Hopefully a free one so i can copy you. (I have good enough computer to render fairly fast. If I post saying I like your work, i probably would be willing to re-render it in 1920 x 1080 for you (me:yes:).

This is crazy good.
Hats off on the modeling
Where did you get the reference images?

PS: alonso’s car next year would be nowhere near as beautiful. They looked crap this season

Days before every season there are “oficial photos” of every car and some are in good resolution. But as the season goes there are infinite changes in the car (for example some spoilers change the shape) so this is the car as it was near the end of the 2008 season.

Yes, without all the aerodinamic and the cuts in the tires and other things all the cars were uglier this season compared to last one.

Don’t forget there is a link in first post to download the blender file and textures and try your own renders!

That’s really awesome, as a big F1 fan, I have to say your model is quite perfect, I like the textures and all the details you put in it as overheated brake disks for example.
I give you five stars and thanks a lot for sharing your blend.

Drive it with care !!!

Thanks for sharing…very nice indeed…well done!!

Wow! that one is just awesome! no crits from me… i bet any changes to it will make it look worse
