I started a Neytiri WIP in CGTalk but I was banned so I can't continue posting there.
I would thank if anyone that already followed that WIP can post this message there: "Bao has been banned, he is continuing this WIP here" (with the "here" with a link to this WIP thread in blenderartists).
Well, this was the last update there. I will post more this weekend.
As I was explaining I was to rethink my topology in the mouth.
Look at the left image and try to think where the lines must go. The middle image is the actual topology of the mesh that is "the typical edgeloop way of life" and to achieve the shape of the left image is near impossible. The right image shows the new topology (I will change some things but it is near what I want for that area. You can see the edgeloops are broken but I think this is the correct topology for this area. I will change it if anyone has a better idea or can see some problems that can arise.
As I did in CGTalk I will upload every two updates or so the blend file (deleting the old links always and only keeping the link to the last file). I hope some people from CGTalk can be able to follow and download the files without the necessity of registering in this forum.
I was advised in CGTalk from Leigh to delete my signature (about 9/11 being an inside job). I did even for me that is a treason to 3000 families that ask for a new investigation. Now I was banned for showing my opinion about Moon Landings being faked. Time to left CGTalk it seems. Nothing is hazardous, all is laid with a motive. Perhaps the one here is making people awake to how they give their rights without saying a word, and how that creates more freaky control over you. We are surrounded by control-freaks and you can't speak anything that is against the oficial thinking. Sheeps? No, I am a human.
wow!! looks really great so far!!! Can't wait to see more!
Well, I changed the topology around the mouth as I explained in latest post.
The face needs much more work but I will take a break to start to create the torso. Just to get some fun because always with the same area is boring. I will return to the face after some work in the torso.
that's damn good! i loved that movie!
Some more work on the face. I fixed some of the areas in red lines in the above post. The tip of the nose is the one with more changes. More work needed on the face yet but I will take a deep breath and change my focus to start to block the torso now.
Well, just a blocking to start to see the proportions in the model but is clear they are not right just now. I think I am going to model the arms in that pose, seems a little weird but I want to give it a try.
I have resized the model and now it has 3.10 blender units height.
Yes meschoyez, a little more straight. Done.
Well more work in the body. Feet are done but not very visible in these captures. I used foots from other model. Just now the size of the foot compared to the body has a "human-like" size. Neytiri I think has them bigger. I will touch the proportions when the body is much more done.
Hands will come also from another model. The area where the neck joins the body is just now so the only one to fill. Then I will start the corrections in the body looking at different photos trying to figure the proportions.
And here come the hands also from another model, yeah, this is Neytiri or Frankestein...???
I will post close-ups but just now they are almost copy and paste (well, some work for deleting the extra fingers). Also I think the hands must be much bigger but I will correct the proportions later, after finishing the neck area.
Changed shoulders and joined the neck to the body. I will be now working in this filled area to create the clavicle and the neck muscles (externocleidomastoideo). I also changed some things in the head but you can barely see them: jaw again (the jaw is the most difficult part I am finding, it gives around 40% likeliness and have it right is not easy) and changed the eye area very much and also the proportion of the up and back and width of the head. I want now fix the body first before continuing to achieve likeliness in the head (and finish the ears too!).
Also the tail is now attached and changed the lighting of the viewport to the default one that helps better to read the mesh.
Edit: I edited to add a closeup of the head too.
The following crits started as a PM to Bao2. I'm posting them in the thread because he asked me to. I didn't want to say anything in the forum because I didn't want to sound too negative of his great efforts.
I like the progress you've made. The shape looks great, but I think you've used too much geometry too soon, and your topology is too unorganized. Are you going to retopologize the model later?
P.S. Why did you get banned from CGTalk/CGSociety?
I also previously received a private message from Leigh (a moderator girl) saying I must change my signature (that was "9/11 was an inside job") and I answered her: OK, I will do that. And so I changed my signature. Leigh was reading the Avatar thread and there is a hight probability she talked to Roberto Ortiz and decided to ban me.
No problem. I just ask someone to posts in the Neytiri WIP in CGTalk: "Bao is continuing this WIP here" (with the here with a link to this thread) and I would love someone do. I am not going to go back to CGTalk never (creating a new account with a new gmail e-mail or so).
I made you a na'vi skin color material.
Just for the viewport, like a matcap in Zbrush
Append in this material.
Set view mode to game> Blender GLSL Materials.
Set it to no lights game> GLSL Material Settings > Enable lights.
In the blender file I posted there is already a "standard ZBrush" material included!. If you enable GLSL and turn the object from Solid to Shaded and you can see it.
I tried make a "navi in the forest at night" material but it doen't looked good. When Neytiri was at the forest at night they had a green from the forest luminiscences and a deep blue from the "jupiter-like giant planet they orbit".
But of course I will download your mat and try it in next post for your pleasure. Thanks!
Edit: I see you have Use Alpha enabled (MapImage panel in the texture buttons (F6) ). Turn it off and you can use a mat without the need to extend the paint like in your mat. Look at mine in the blender file.
