    Cubemap to Angularmap

I found it hard to create Angular Maps for the backgrounds in Blender. So i wrote a little programm that can convert Environmentmaps (also called Cubemaps) to an Angular Map.

The programm is written in Java and needs Java (>= 1.5) to work. You may download it if you don't have it already installed.

You can download it from here: http://www.file-upload.net/download-254 ... r.zip.html

    Some things to mention:

    • The number of samples is squared. Dont move it up to high, or you will wait for hours.
    • It isn't fast, but it works ;-)
    • Possible inputformats are JPEG, GIF and PNG. Maybe some other formats, that are supported by Java itself.
    • Output is always PNG (not very well compressed)
    • HDRI formats aren't supported right now
    • You need to manually adjust the size of the angularmapresult.

    How it works:

    • Create an Environmentmap from the desired location (http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Do...vironment_Maps)
    • Save the Environmentmap in one of the supported formats
    • Convert it using the tool (red colors are bad...)
    • Use it as an Angularmap for nice 360x180 background-graphics.

    An typical example:

    The Cubemap
The Angularmap created by the program

None. Its handcoded and done on paper. Anything else is from the default Java Library. No need for other external code or libraries.

Not very nice, rubish, etc. but it works ;-)
