rigging and animating a necklace

alright I have a character that wears a necklace whats the best way to rig the necklace with bones or curves or just parented to the neck bone and use softbodies or rigid bodies any expert advice or tutorial would be appreciated

If you are using 2.5, try using the new ‘Spline IK’, which I suspect is what they used for the serpentine movement of the dragon in Sintel. Check the release notes for 2.5 http://www.blender.org/development/release-logs/blender-254-beta/spline-ik/

well i am using 2.49 for this character

In that case, I would try a bezier circle, with hooks attached to the control points. Then you can animate the hooks fairly easily.

hey thanks a lot modron as per the necklace model what would be the bestway to model it besides using dupliverts for the pearls since it gives me a weird effect when i used the curve modifier

what sort of necklace? is it a chain? pearls?

is going to be sort of a pebble or pearl like necklace modron

whoops I missed where you mentioned pearls. One thing that might help if you should choose to use them, is to switch the interpolation type of your curve from bezier to linear.
