Depends on the Blender version, tile settings, and which BMW scene are you talking about?
Why are you still using that Pentium 4 potato?

Using latest build and 2 low frequency Xeons I got this:

    OS: Ubuntu 16.04
    CPU: 2 Xeon E5 V4 ES @2.2 GHz
    Blender version: latest daily build
    Render time: 00:00:26.07
    Tiles: 8x9

    Edit 2017-08-14:
see #2706, the time above were made using the BMW files from blender.org
Here are the results using the good file (see #1):
    278C:
    CPU 04:18.84

    2.79RC1

How many samples? The cpu seems to be a bit slow.

    Hi.
Please use the BMW27.blend scene downloaded from the first message of this thread (not the one downloaded from blender.org), and then you edit your message with correct values. In this scene for CPU you use small Tile Size, for example X=32, Y=32

Maybe not changing anything is the problem. If your CPU tile size is too large, you will only have a few threads working at the end. It can make a huge difference. Using a tile size of 16x16 for the CPU, you should get ~2:10.

There is already tons of confusion in this thread due to people not mentioning their explicit settings, so I thought it would be helpful to list them. But, for clarity, I edited my post to say that those are the default settings.

    ryzen 5 1600 (stock)
    rx 470
    16GB RAM
    blender 2.78c

time 3:01.90 (running 9 background programs, ran it 2 times first time: 3:06.30)
400 samples (what it said when it was almost done rendering)
    16 tiles

Opened .blend and hit F12, just as you asked to do.

'- It's not working' then check your console like: this
Did you know that you can make a complete game with the .blends that i share?

That's is exactly twice as fast as my r9 390x.

    WOW!

Just downloaded the latest 2.79 build and did some test renders - got the lowest times I have ever seen to date.

    GPU - 980Ti

    480 x 270 = 0:46 (that's almost 25% faster than 2.78c!)

    CPU - Core i7-5930k @ 3.50GHz

    32 x 32 = 2:02 (around 7% faster than 2.78c)
