Is it possible to delete faces with in an animation?

As an experiment, started by creating a mesh cube and subdividing it. Next I inserted a mesh absolute vertex key in frame 1. Then I forwarded to frame 30. In this frame I deleted a face and inserted a second key. However, when I went to animate the object, The face was gone from the object in all 30 frames. I’m just wondering what I am doing wrong. Any advice?

I don’t think you can just delete faces. What I would do it is to separate the face I wish to have disappear into a separate object parented to the rest of the mesh (so you can move it as a unit). Then you can keyframe the layer that the face is on with the “i” key and make it disappear from view by placing it on a non-visible layer.

Hope this helps

Assign to the face a separate material and animate material’s alpha value.

Weird thoughts happen during migraines.

I suddenly pictured the idea of animating to still images with a build effect and then compositing them in reverse order.

Or is there a way to manipulate the effect for an “unbuild”? Haven’t played with it enough to know.
