I am using blender 2.69 (tar ball downloaded from blender.org) under a current SuSE Linux.
I wanted to know the length of an edge so I activated “Mesh Display”->“Edge Info”->“Length”. Blender showed me a length of 50.048 cm. I found that strange so I placed a cube beside the edge, stretched it to same length and checked what length blender showed me for this one … 3.726 m.
Yes, that measurement of edges is NOT affected by the scale of your object.
If your scale is (1,1,1), then the mesh edge lengths will be correct.
But of you scale your object to 3 times its size, while you expect the lenghts to be 3x bigger, they won’t be, because mesh data hasn’t changed, only object scale !
Do you get it ?
It’s a bit weird at first, but it does make perfect sense in fact.
