UVW-Baking

Hi everyone,

I am currently working on a project where I have to create a lot of LOD-Meshes.
So I came up with an idea for a “new” feature": Baking the UV-Vertex positions of an unwrapped object to another one with a different topology.

In other words:

Like in shrinkwrap, Blender checks for matching vertices (the nearest ones (maybe with a threshold)) on the two objects and copys the uv-vertex-position of the unwrapped object to the target object that needs to be unwrapped.

I know im not good at explaining, especialy in english,
but i hope you understand my thougts, explaned with this scetch i made.


Sadly my pythonskills are far from letting me do this on my own.
So if someone thinks this feature would be useful, I’d be happy for any help on this.

i was hoping, that someone comes ub and says that there is somting out there that does this stuff.
I hope, the UV-Transfere is usable.
