Move your hips!

Hi guys! I’ve got some problems when moving my characters’ hips( especially womans :-? ): I’ve already tried some tricks with Ik solvers , copy rotation and copy location constraints but it doesn’t give good results.
If someone could help me…

If you could be more specific about the problem…

Forgive me :expressionless: …! I’d like to make a woman walk cycle.

This is exactly what I went through. A few weeks ago I posted “A better armature…” to show how I solved my problems. A sample .blend can still be had in this thread: https://blenderartists.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34636

I am making a site called “xeetstreet’s blender laboratory” that will house all of my tricks and projects. Initially it will have samples of how do animation stuff (fake soft bodies, real rigid bodies, fake water dynamics, etc.)

Hi ShunSquall,

In the Blender Conference 2004 Vídeo about Character Animation in Blender by Bassam Kurdal, he shows a nice armature that moves the hips pretty well, I’ve tested it on a mesh I’ve done, and works fine for a female hip (its a male mesh but… who cares :stuck_out_tongue: ). This is what I’ve got only rotating the highlighted bone from de spine:

Hope it helps,

Thanks a lot for your replies!
xeetstreet: your armature is pretty simple but it works fine!!
Kha: interesting skeleton :-? … Have you tried to move thighs or foot individually? My main problem is that I’m not in the habit of using Forward Kinematics .

I’ll try to set my own armature: I’ll post some shots…

Mine skeleton works like xeetstreet’s skeleton, the foot and legs is controled by inverse kinematics, that is why it works because the foot stays where you place it while you move the hip.
