    As a proof of concept, I modified the script to work this way :

    - you define some tag patterns, to alternate the clips ( "teacher student student teacher smile","teacher, student, smile, teacher school" etc...)
    - give the pace of the music (20 images)
    - give the script a choice of length for the clips (one pace, two pace, etc... for flexibility, regarding the IN-OUT so to take a maximum of possible frame)

    After minor editing (add a transition, reversed an element and swap some clips), you get something like that. The good thing is that all the clips' length are multiples of the pace, so you can easily swap the elements (alt-left / alt-right) on the sequence without disrupting the rythme.

    I am wondering what funny result you would get with an interview ?...

    That's kind of amazing! You could iterate a reshuffle of the sequence for each loop of the VSE playback to get a live infinite loop.

    The interview sounds like a challenge. Do you have another version of the script available?

    OK, David, here's the code.

    The script uses the metadata created by the Addon Easy-logging (the empties). So before running it, you should log some footage to populate your tags. Insert a music, check the rhythm (how many frames between two paces). And then you just have to edit few variables at the begining of the script :

    # ************************************************** **********************************************

    # Define a pattern with your own tags
    pattern = 'school teacher student student student student school'

    # Pace of the music (in frames)
    global pace
    pace = 13

    # Acceptable number of pace for one clip
    global step
    step = [1,2,4]

    # Approximate length of the new sequence (sec)
    Total_length = 60

    # ************************************************** ************************************************

    Download shuffle-tag.py

    easy logging only works with videos from file browser?
    i tried editing an already edited video, it opened but without in, out and place buttons!
    is it possible to add an reedit videos functionality without needing to remove and reimport from file browser?

    Hi Amagnoni,

    When you edit a video that has already been edited, you should find back the IN and OUT that you previously set :

    But yes, you re-edit it from the browser, not from the timeline. I put your request in the todo list of the next version.

    Yeah, it's great because this script saves the in and out of edits!
    I hope that you understand, it's about the "place" button. Pressing it will put another video in the timeline.

    I want to replace the already placed video.
    Maybe one button "replace" will do the work!

    But what if the new media is the wrong length? Would you ignore it's outpoint or shrink the duration of the toal edit..or even make it longer?

    It is a good idea!
    Two buttons "replace without reorder" and "replace with reorder" all the video sequences!

    I will re-code the whole thing anyway, so you guys keep going on with new ideas, it's all good !
    I've added an optional 'climax' point which you place somewhere between the in and the out. It's especially usefull for the shuffle.py (to make sure the climax is in). Maybe this can help the script to 'smartly' make a choice during the replacement ?

    Seems like a "favourite moment" tag. Can you add more context to the same tag in this way?

    well, it's more a 'favourite frame' marker inside the IN-OUT selection than a tag. It points out the frame that really gives the footage its value answering the question: why do I keep this clip ? Because of this very image. AKA the climax.

    climax.png

    The shuffle script was using the middle frame of the selection but sometime the most valuable part of a clip lies elsewhere.

    Very good point! When defining clips in other NLEs this is often your (definable) Thumbnail image.

    Hi.
    I'm new here so I hope to not ask for stupid questions.
    This "easy logging" addon is a great tool. I have only one problem: I'm working on a project with clips shooted at 25 fps. Each time I open a new clip by clicking on the "edit clip" button Blender opens the new scene called "Editing table" at 24 fps 50% resolution as it is for app default. I changed the default scene and when I start Blender the new scene it always matches my editing profile (25 fps 100% resolution).
    Is someone able to tell me how to set the addon so it can match my clips and editing project profile?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi.
    Even if I'm not a programmer I could modify the script to match my needs. So I decide to share what I done by hoping to be useful for someone.
    In the block where is # Set active scene to main I added some lines that I copied straight from the python tooltips:
    bpy.data.scenes[0].render.fps = 25
    bpy.data.scenes[0].render.resolution_percentage = 100
    bpy.data.scenes[0].use_audio_scrub = True
    bpy.data.scenes[0].use_audio_sync = True
    bpy.data.scenes[0].use_frame_drop = True
    Now when I switch to the new scene for setting the IN and OUT point of a clip the new window opens with rendering properties as 25 fps and 100% resolution. More it turns on the audio scrubbing, the AV sync and the Frame Dropping features.
    It would be nice if there were a way to set parameters to fit every different project without modify the python text manually each time.
    Anyway: GREAT TOOL, thank you again.

    Hi Ciplotz,
    Congratulation on modifying the script to your needs ! You are absolutely right, the script should take care of all these settings by itself.
    I will modify the addon as soon as I get the time.

    I wanted to check your work, but all videos in this post are missing.

    For script in your first post I got an error in blender 2.72 Hash 0334be9 OS X 10.8.5:

    Hi Nikos,
    I have just discovered your Addon; I will try it out as soon as possible and add it to the Addons post in my Blog. It looks great, thank you!
