    Snow Leopard Hunting

This is a snow leopard I've been working on the past couple of weeks. For more info you can see the focused critique here. I used the advice of many many forum members and got it close to where I wanted it. It's a tough subject, with high particle counts. But it's time to take what I learned and move on...

Nice looking leopard, but where is the snow ? Snow would definitely add to the composition..and snowflakes man...snowflakes.
Also - cats don't hunt standing tall Just my opinion.
    Nice work...love the water droplets.

I like the displacement/normal on the nose, it looks wet just like it should.

Robert, thank you. I think it's just about the right kind of glossy mix.

Doris, thank you very much -- and thanks for being a part of the critiquing stage. I look at that first render and it honestly makes me laugh now it's so amateurish. I wonder if in the years to come I'll look back at this render and think the same thing. Hope not.

Your leopard came out really good, and you are right, a huge difference from the first render. I'm having a tough time figuring out which version I like better... BW stylish or color, both look really nice to me.

The white color is the most reflective color, I think maybe there must be more reflection of the enviroment, despite of that, this is an amazing job.

Not too keen on post-processing, but the raw render I really like!

the problem that captured my attention first was the uniform coloration of the bright areas of the fure, nature usually does not work like this so I was curious if that is realistic. A google search revealed that my concerns were correct it is not.

Even though coloration differs from snow leopard to snow leopard one things is clear is that there is a lot of variation into the coloration of the fur which your current render clearly lacks. I think this render is already quite good but has the potential to be very good and even great with a bit more work.

I think this is really fantastic. I love the hair and how you got it to look so natural. Such an inspiration! It makes me want to try and do a cat in blender now!

Thank you multimochen. I spent a lot of time getting the hair to blend well witht he nose and eyes. In early versions it looks pretty bad.
