lighting on textures

being a beginner i am having trouble appling textures and letting them be affected by lights an shaddows in the bge
any help?

as a beginner, you should give more info, because i can say spot and sun lamps adds shadows to the game, and u can rotate them to get the result u want.

I bet this didnt help you at all?

applying textures is the fun part and ill tell you the verry basic.

  • add a cube
  • select the cube
  • hit TAB key to get in edit mode.
  • hit U then click on unwrap
  • to see how it is unwrapped, split your screen and open UV/IMAGE EDITOR.
  • now at properties menu click on the MATERIAL TAB
  • add a material
  • click on the TEXTURE TAB
  • hit new or the + button, put type on image/movie, scroll down and put coordinates on UV, scroll back up and open the image/texture u want.

the cube should be textured and be affected by the light/shadows

It does in cycles and blender render but not in the game engine

in blender GE are you in glsl mode?
properties menu, render tab, scroll down.

or are you in solid view?
put it on material or texture to see shadows etc.

*Btw, i spotted a typo, i said point lamps, but it needed to be spotlights and sun lamp

Post a .blend and clearly state your problem within the .blend.
