How would I rig this?

I’m a complete beginner when it comes to Rigging, I can’t get the bloody thing to work no matter what I do, when I setup my bones, then Armature Deform with Automatic Weights it always takes other parts of the mesh with it. So how would I properly rig this mesh?


Oh god! It’s hard to give any answer to this. You should add more some details here. A blend. file should help.
But It looks like what you need to do here is going to weight paint mode and tweak each bone’s weight.

If the bear is in bits (often like a robot) you can parent each mesh directly to each corresponding bone, rather than to the armature object with an armature modifier. Doing it this way doesn’t require weight painting
