Solved "nvidia error code 3 subcode 2"

Hello,
I just wanted to share a solution of random “nvidia error code 3 subcode 2” while rendering in cycles. For me it occured everytime while CPU rendering a scene, so it wasn’t GPU Timeout problem, or old driver.
It was caused by MSI Afterburner, which apparently, freezes while rendering on CPU and causes a crash.
I’ve got Gigabyte GTX 980Ti, where auto passive cooling is a joke, so other solution it to install Gigabyte OC Guru, it’s quite bad for fan control but it works and doesn’t cause any crash.
(I have an issue that OC Guru doesnt want to startup, even if I put it manualy in autostart, any thoghts? :slight_smile: )

“nvidia error code 3” still sometimes happen to me while rendering on CPU, I found the solution by trashing any GPU software like OC Guru… The downside is that I was left with hot potato instead of GPU, I don’t mind the noise of fans but I want working workstation, so I modified and flashed the GPU bios to have different fan curve (pic below). Risky but works :slight_smile:
