Frustrated with lattices and bones!!

Can someone please look at this and tell me where I’m going wrong (put me out of my misery)!:

My project/result is on the top - the tutorial I’m following is on the bottom:

For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to make LAT_pages.L rotate/follow the DEF_pages_bot.L bone, as is indicated in the tutorial image. It does move in the rotated direction, but the gap exists and widens as it is rotated further right??

Any help will be sincerely appreciated.

The other group vertices dampen the movement made by LAT_pages.L. Does the tutorial assign that vertices to more than one group?

Thanks a lot, Ovnuniarchos! Your question caused me to re-look several things, and it turned out to be the version I was using (2.77) and the tutorial was done with 2.6. Apparently the modifiers were changed, but now that’s solved. I’m down to one last issue. There are six pages that are supposed to turn; however, 12 actually turn? In other words, I want to turn only one page at a time. Rather than 1-2 (then a gap), 3-4 (then a gap), and so forth, I would like to simply delete or prevent pages 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 from appearing. Can that be accomplished?

I can’t find the origin of the error. Bumping in hopes someone will notice, and knows how to solve.
