Well, it’s useful, but I think that the tutorial is missing some key parts. For example, the first thing you need to do is to get a reference. With out something to guide you, you won’t be able to capture the movement effectively. Next, you need to establish a “beat”. What I mean is that you need to decide how often you need to add in keyframes like adding them once every 5 frames if you are on a 24 frame animation. Once the blocking is done, you need to create a “spline”, a copy of the action and refine it to improve movement. That can take multiple attempts to polish the animation.
Along the way, you need to pay attention to shifting of weight, squashing and stretching, ease in and out of movement and you need to pay attention to arcs for natural movement. Appeal is just as important when it comes to animation. Anticipation is also important when it comes to animation as well. It’s like when the person is getting ready to do something.
Take a look at this article to get a better understanding.

But my examples are just fast made examples. :spin:
You can use my blender-files to make something of your own. Here is a file to download with Obama to play with: https://archive.org/details/obama_01
And here is my example.
You can make your own animated characters with a soundtrack and express your own views. Or you can download my Blender-files and experiment with them. Make them better!
And you can follow my tutorials on Blendan - a Nefertiti character: https://archive.org/details/blendan
Here is my Blender-file on Xi Jinping: https://archive.org/details/xi_jinping01
And here is my experiment with Xi Jinping:

I don’t know about this one. Your lip sync to the characters is waaaaaay off and the movements of the characters needs improvement at best. Most importantly you say that you believe in simplistic ways of animation so it can be quick and fast.
Unfortunately, it’s not that simple! I think that what you have failed to understand is that in order to get the best quality results, you have to refine your skills. For example, you need learn topology flow, at least at the face, in order to get a smooth, quality look when you do facial animations. I’m looking at the Winston Churchill video and if you pause it at the 4 second mark, you can clearly see that the eyes and the eye sockets do not match. Plus the eyeballs are moving away from the eyelids. That is something that you have missed in the process of creating the character. The same is needed for the eyes on Xi Jinping, Hillary Clinton, Putin and the Obama Models. Even on the Obama Model, the mouth looks like it’s out of place.
If you want to create a quality tutorial, you have a long way to go before you can put one out I’m afraid.
You can always criticize better show some appreciation - show your own Churchill - character - perhaps it has some faults or will it be absolutely perfect? will have Zero Shadows?
You can always criticize better show some appreciation!
Okay, I’m trying to give you some tips and show you the things you need to improve on. Some how you took it as an attack. The thing is that I could create one, but I am currently too busy with my own project. I think that you are one of the people who take criticism, but can’t retain it or receive it in a positive light. I can find plenty of tutorials that can give some one a better understanding on creating UV textures, modeling topology, and animation. You have to understand that the potential reader is going to have a certain expectation of quality to get to the more polished result that’s a start in the right direction.
Ever since I’ve been here in the forums, I’ve seen people come and gone telling them how things didn’t seem right to the viewer. However, the author of the thread will get to the point where they finally realized that maybe there’s a kernel of truth to my opinion; even if there’s a small amount. Every single 3d animator and artist has to follow the 12 principles of animation in order to get a polished product. You still have a long way you go. It’s a start, but there’s room for improvement. Polish your work, study on the 12 principles of animation more, and you will go far.
Don’t take this as an attack. If I didn’t say any thing about this, someone else would eventually.
Oh, so I see. You went to an earlier work of mine. If you were to dig further into that thread, I have since improved on that character. Allow me to show you the current design.
See, that’s the difference about the evolution of characters. It becomes a never ending cycle. You take a look at the characters that you have created so far and you think about the parts that you could have improve on. Then you go back, start over and improve the looks based on what you have learned. Right now, you are acting a bit childish when I am trying to help you. If this is how you are going to respond, then the members of this forum will less likely to help you out in the future. This is one example of one of the principles of animation, appeal. If it does not meet your criteria, then you go back and change until you get the desired effect.
Please don’t let it get to the point where a moderator has to close this thread. Take the advice and continue to improve on your skills.
You can do your own characters after following my tutorials on Blendan - a Nefertiti character:
Here is one of my characters Bee Queen Elizabeth. It is a little surrealistic. Everyone will not like it. We all have different views. But hope you like it!
Blend anim, Thank you so much for posting, This is great for beginners like me to play with. I read the others comments and yes you could have worked on one for a long time and made it perfect but I like that you took less time and made more characters and videos.
You are right, it’s nice to be able to learn and improve on your examples. I have subscribed to your youtube channel.
