Blender's Freestyle Line Implementation?

-I have heard that Blender’s Freestyle line implementation is presently being
programmed and debugged. Is this true?

-I have a situation where I could do with better Freestyle Line detection
for a completed model. So as not to post twice, I have submitted it
to

-I also have the known situation where command line blender animation rendering
gives out a repeated spurious message about Freestyle lines.

-What is progress like at the moment on these issues? Is there some script I can download
to eliminate any problems in the meantime, if I have a finished project to deal with?
