Strange Black Pixelation

Hey guys, I have been working on a certain project of mine and came across a strange problem. When I lit my scene with a hemi, everything was fine. But the moment I light my scene with a sun lamp, I get this weird black scratchy effect. Iv’e seen other post saying it’s because of the clipping but my clipping is set to the default. Anyone have any ideas?

Looks like the faces have been duplicated and exist in the same place now. This usually disturbs the renderer in the way you are experiencing.

No, that’s not the problem. I’m not sure what it is.

That is strange. Just in case: are you sure?

I made a quick test: sphere with duplicate faces, rendered with point / hemi lamp:

What happens if you add another object (using the same material) to the scene. Does it show the same effect?
Does “Remove Doubles” in edit mode change anything? Could there be two object in the same place?

If that doesn’t help: could you upload the blend file, so I can have a look?

Strangely, I just restarted the Blender file and everything was fine. Puzzling…

Let’s hope it stays that way! Good Luck
