can you help with choosing CPU and GPU?

Hi!
I’d like to ask if:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M 4GB
i5-6300HQ (2.3 GHz, 3.2 GHz Turbo, 6 MB Cache)
16GB RAM DDR4 (2133 MHz)

is good enough for 3D modeling/ rendering

Good enough is such a relative term, someone can probably give you a better answer if you tell how much money you can spend.

That is good enough, but I see that it’s a laptop, which isn’t the best choice for rendering, as it will warm it up quite a bit. Make sure you have good airflow around your laptop when rendering.

I use an aging Q6600 quad core 2.4ghz 4gb ram, Geforce 960 4GB. It’s good enough. The CPU and of course the slow, low amount of ram are my bottle necks, mostly my older CPU. But I work in it and it’s completely doable.

Budget helps, but typical tasks (e.g. student? 3D game asset design? Movie production?) would be a better starting point. That includes whether mobility is a serious consideration or not, as indicated by the other poster laptops aren’t a good choice for render outside of very light learning.

laptops are not the best for rendering
small things are doable but it will get a bit hot

mobile “chips” on the mobo are not great - usable but not great
and the mobile version of the i5 IS NOT!!! the same as a desktop i5 , there 1/2 as many cores in the laptop i5
