export Collada to Aurasma: colour missing

Hi!
I’m using Blender version 2.78.
I want to export a text-mesh as a Collada file into another program called “Aurasma”.

(Aurasma is an online-platform which you can use for viewing 3D-Modells as Augmented Reality objects on your smartphone.)

I did the following steps in Blender:

  1. Create a short text
  2. Add a “text” modifier, extruding the text slightly.
  3. Create a “material”: In this, change the colors.
  4. Get into “edit” mode and click “assign” in the “material” menu
  5. Turn the text into a mesh-file: Click “Alt” + “c” and choose “Mesh from Curve …”
  6. Save file as Blender file.
  7. Export file as Dae / Collada file; in the export menu check:
  • Selection only, include Armatures, include shape keys;
  • Include UV textures, include Material textures;
  • Deform bones only;
  • Triangulate, Use Object instances

Then export the file.

When I now upload the Collada file into Aurasma, it shows up fine in 3D, but without the chosen color, i.e. in grey.

The weird thing is that I managed to export / import 2 files INCLUDING their colours (red and yellow).

I just can’t figure out the difference between the two instances.

Any ideas?

Thank you very much in advance!

I’ve just found it out myself after hours of trying out.
It is crucial that you follow the correct sequence of steps.

  1. Write your text and add “material” (colour).
  2. Switch into edit mode.
  3. Click on “assign” at the top of the “materials” tab.
  4. Now, switch into object mode.
  5. Click alt + c (the letters are turned into a “Mesh”).
  6. Export as DAE-file, simply leaving the default settings of Blender in place (I’m using Blender version 2.78.).

Now, uploading the DAE-file including the colours into Aurasma works fine.
