How to connect 2 objects in order to move them with a single bone?

I want to maintein them “separated”, and to have them connected to the same bone.
In my case, I’m talking about head + hat with a bone in the head.

I’m only able to press CTRL+J but this produces an unique object.

Either set vertex weights for the head bone and parent them to the armature with an armature deform modifier, or parent them to the head bone. It’s very common to have the head(as a part of the body) parented to the armature, and the hat(as a separate object) parented directly to the head bone.

I assume you already have the head controlled by the head bone so for the hat:

  1. Select the armature and go into pose mode, select only the head bone so it’s teal (
    blue/green).
  2. Select the hat, in object mode.
  3. Hold shift and select the armature.
  4. Hit Ctrl P and choose ‘bone’ from the menu
