Where to find Gimp in a Linux system (Ubuntu 16.04)...

…to assign it as an external Image Editor in Blender?

Thank you guys

JDL

It’s /usr/bin/gimp

Have fun!

ubuntu

open up your menu and under graphics is gimp

or

open a terminal and type

gimp

or

right click on a image and select gimp
THE EXACT SAME AS ON A MS WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM !!!

@JohnVV Is about cofiguring Blender with GIMP as the default external editor.
And yes, it is /usr/bin/gimp

This was always confusing to me:

Apparently this only works with saved images. For example if you do the render obtaining the “Render Result” image, and you choose “Image” > “Edit Externally”, then you get the error message: Image path ‘.’ not found, image may be packed or unsaved

Thanks guys!

SkpFX, that’s just what I needed.
Also had forgotten that you can use this command line in Terminal: “which gimp”, it’ll give you exactly the path you gave me.

That’s interesting, thanks for sharing YAFU

Actually, after I looked a bit closer, just ‘gimp’ works, since it’s in the system path.

JohnVV was right after all
