Add Bones to Pose?

Hi, I made this with the help from some people here but it turns out using Curves is to difficult for the project.

How would I add bones to the first shape so I can pose the object. I will build the leg as a straight poly object, but then how would I add bones to pose it?

In Object mode Shift A > Armature.
Tab into Edit mode.
Subdivide the single bone in your armature till you have enough segments.
16 perhaps as on the right drawing.
Align the bone heads and tails with your mesh segments for more uniform looking deformation.
Tab into Object mode.
Select your mesh, Shift select you armature.
Ctrl P > Parent with Auto weights.

LoboTommy, thanks so much, got it done. Added bones and parented them to the mesh, but I forgot something.

When I drag a bone in Pose mode it only moves that part of the mesh, but is it possible to drag the top bone (for e.g.) and then the other bones of the leg will “follow”, in other words I want to drag the top bone and have the “whole” leg bend. Right now it just drags the top part of the mesh connected to the top bone.

Select the end bone in Pose mode.
Shift i > add IK > To new Empty object.

This and other options demonstrated here.
