Hiker

Hi everyone!

I created this sculpting/render for an article I wrote recently for the German magazine Digital Production (http://www.digitalproduction.com/). It is about “Sculpting in Blender” and will be released in Issue 01/17. What you see in the finale render is a 100% dyntopo sculpting done in Blender. Texturing and shading was done using Vertex Painting and procedural textures. That means for the final piece I didn’t needed to do retopology or uv mapping. The whole process feels a bit like real sculpting and hand painting the model. For this sculpting I tried the Blender addon “Speed Sculpt” the first time (https://gumroad.com/l/SpeedSculpt), great tool!

For the Sketchfab model I just reduced the poly count with the decimate modifier and created a simple uv map using smart uv project. After that, I backed the vertex color into a texture.

Have fun!

Awesome! Great to know that the workflow that you describe is possible!
I think you made a very interesting character! The face expression is fantastic!
It looks like a ceramic figurine, or something like that.
