Bugfix Viewport Lag NVIDIA

Hey Guys,

i would like to share a fix for NVIDIA GPUs.

Since driver version 350 or so, i noticed a viewport responsive lag in almost every 3D application
like Blender, C4D, Maya and so on. Especially with big scenes, antialiasing and AO activated.

While clicking in the viewport to zoom or drag, there is a small millisecond lag until the camera moves.
For me it was very anoying and after searching and searching,
i found a temporary solution in this blender dev forum ( https://developer.blender.org/T49758 )

They said, that the shadowplay recording in Geforce Experience would make the viewport totally fluid while recording.
After it worked i asked a NVIDIA guy to look at this bug.

He gave me a solution that worked for me and i hope for you too, if you encounter this problem.
I tried this with the big “Blenderman” scene and it is totally fluid  also with AO an AA enabled.

Try making these changes:

a) Right click on the desktop and launch NVIDIA Control Panel --> Manage 3D settings.
b) Go to Global Settings tab.
c) In the setting window,
• Power management mode – prefer maximum performance
• Threaded optimization – off
• Triple buffering – off
• Vertical sync – off
• Maximum pre rendered frames – 3

Have a nice Day,

Daniel
