Is there a *.max importer possible?

While I have making things with 3dsmax but it does not run under xp because of the cdilla dispute, I thought maybe you can import meshes with it, but it might be just lazyness too, but who knows… of course.

do you have to import .max into blender and not another format max supports?

I had the same problem. Our previous graphics guy saved the company logo in a .max file. This is fine, but no use using Blender. The only option I could find quickly was he converted the .max file to an .obj file and I was able to import it. You may also see if 3DS can export to .lwo as that may work as well.

Hello,

I can not use max at the moment because xp is standing on the root harddisk. But I only have the max files which I wanted to convert to
blend, or anything else.

Bart

The problem is that the .max format is that it is a secret of discreet (i.e. it is not publicly documented). Because of this, it is impossible to write an importer. The only way to deal with .max files is to export them into some other known format from MAX itself.
