Looking for passionate collaborators for new LOTR game idea

Hi there,

I’m looking for anyone who would be interested in collaborating on a nonprofit open world game idea set in Middle Earth. Assets will be created in Blender and then imported to Cryengine for integration into that engine.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have. I am in early conceptualisation of the game and have decided it will be a large open world title set in the 60 years between the Hobbit and the beginning of the lord of the rings films.

Gameplay will focus on a survival nature, and a key aspect of the game is the environment destruction, which I hope to push to a level never before seen in indie games.

WE NEED:

Concept Artists
Animators (preferably with experience of motion capture)
AI Specialists
Weapon Modellers
Lore Experts
As well as myself, we will need more environment artists

Anyone who would be interested in further developing the story or who has any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Any assisters in the project need to have great passion for the Lore, have read the books, and would be willing to dedicate lots of their free time to the vision. Must speak English and be willing to talk over Skype or other web cam sharing sites about the project.

Note: I am also looking in Cryengine forums too to assist with the gameplay itself. If anyone here is a skilled C++ programmer that would be great too.

We are looking to make a truly authentic open world Middle Earth, starting from the Shire, then seeing how that goes.

PLOT:

Your character wakes up nearby the Shire with no recollection of who you are, or why you’re there. As you travel middle earth during a tense and turbulent time, you piece together the puzzle of your identity, and are more important than you imagined to the fate of the world. Make allegiances, enemies, and own the roads of middle earth. Travel alone, or with friends, take quests to improve reputation, or terrorise middle earth as an asset of the Enemy, the choice, and every choice between is yours.

A creature stalks the villages of Eriador, whispers of a creature that steals in the night, spies of the enemy grow in number and strength, you are the frontier of protection in Middle Earth.

Its like a joke about indie projects.

Known IP. Check.
Open world. Check.
No real connection with IP other than name. Check.
It will have destruction and mumbo jumbo. Check.
Make promises on what every other big budget mmo tried and failed. Check.

No work nor proof of concept done. Check.

Feel better now? I’ve got 4 people on the team now already, what you fail to understand is that LOTR is a powerful and passionate community. This game is being made for fun, we are not naïve, but we are ambitious about creating a game with vision and pioneering features. Stick to criticising if you like.

Haven’t made promises, those are our targets. Known IP, yes, hence why the game is non-profit. The open world will be designed slowly, parts added over time starting with a small area. Yes, it will have destruction, real destruction on a level not seen before in open world games, that’s why I’m recruiting top people. Lastly, it’s not an MMO.

Maybe you could learn something from this team project.https://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?304773-Alpha-Demo-The-Garden-A-barebones-RPG.I really would like it if you to succeeded. Is your aim still to make a noman sky type of
videogame?

Looks awesome. Yeah lost science, I’m noodling around with lots of different conscepts at the moment, but this idea is completely seperate, though may have procedural elements. Go to the website indieteamup.com

I managed to find 12 collaborators for this project within 24 hours on that site, which is awesome. Would you like to get involved?

I have not really learned enough python yet.And my modeling skills i have has much to be desired.I use makehuman for characters. But i think those are not good enough for a videogame like this.I made a zombie female with makehuman.I mainly use logic bricks and now premade python components. If i use python scripts i use python scripts i can find on this forum.

I have no interest in working as a modeler or anything such, however if you’re interested in your game having original music based upon the themes created in the LOTR movies, I would be happy to assist in that field. PM me if you are interested and we can follow up on details, I would be very interested in this project.
