Skyrim Steel BattleAxe

Hi everyone.

This is my latest work in blender:

Modelling in blender from scratch using a background image as reference.
Texturing in Photoshop. 1 noise map, 1 metal scratch map(diffuse+bump), 1 ornament detail bump map and AO map baked in cycles.

Rendered in cycles. Node setup has been a bit complex… can be simplified but I think final result is good looking.
Resolution 2000x2000 (only 200 samples)

Hope you like it.

C&C are welcome.

Ruben

Last or latest? :stuck_out_tongue:
I like the material that you used on the blade it self.
However I find the handle to be very thin in comparison to the blade.

Well done

Latest, thanks for the correction :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, maybe the handle is too thin, but I used this photo as reference:

https://images.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=http%3A%2F%2Ffc00.deviantart.net%2Ffs71%2Fi%2F2014%2F036%2F2%2Fd%2Fskyrim_steel_battleaxe_prop_replica_by_theanti_lily-d759n1m.jpg&f=1

I basically rotated in photoshop and made it symmetric, so it’s mostly like in that image, but I agree it looks too thin in the render…

I will post a few more renderings from other angles later.

Thanks for the feedback!

Overall a striking image that is nicely lit except possibly a little dark - especially the lower left blade. Also looks just a little too sharp against the backdrop, maybe a little depth of field blurring would help?
