Scientific media designer, full-time, in Geneva Switzerland

The job below involves using Blender quite a lot, this is the reason I share it here.

Intro:

At the Blue Brain Project (http://bluebrain.epfl.ch), we are looking for a multi-disciplinary profile, a creative and technically savvy individual interested in understanding and communicating scientific research with high quality visuals. This person will support and collaborate with the lead designer in the visualisation team on a broad range of projects.

Major Duties and responsibilities:

  • Scripting with Python for automation in visualisation tools such as Blender
  • Designing scientific visualisations for expert or lay audience
  • Researching ways of visualising complex data
  • Designing short movies with 3D visualisations
  • Coordinating visualisation requests with scientists and engineers
  • Storing, archiving and publishing visualisations

Profile:

  • 1+ year of work experience in a related field field
  • Graduate degree in a related field or 4+ years of work experience
  • Ability to develop with scripting languages using version control
  • A good sense of composition, colours & aesthetics
  • Good notions of video making, 2d/3d animation and compositing
  • Experience with Adobe or open source design tools
  • Good command of written and spoken English, French is a plus
  • Experience with Blender or another 3D professional tool is a plus
  • Experience with a scientific or similar public domain is a plus
