Harmonica

Working on this for a website logo. For starting out I’m trying to make it look realistic, and I’m new to nodes. Any suggestions (and instructions would be great too).

What kind of website logo starts from making a realistic render of a harmonica. If it’s for the background, that would make sense, but as a logo it sounds a bit strange.

It seems to be very shiny, so it’s all about the reflections, but still have to light the model so it’s recognizable and that it fits the website.

Highly detailed reflections start from a geometry that supports them. If you used subdivision surface to create the curved geometry, subdivision result is not likely to give a uniform reflection if that is what you’re going for. Would either need a uniform and uninterrupted grid of polygons to cover the curved surfaces, or adjust normals to make the subdivision result look like it’s more even.

The reflections themselves come from the environment. Either from the environment hdri texture and/or from geometry/lights you place there. Very clean product render could also just use planes with and without emission to get the wanted reflections.
