    @Meta
Sorry I got the name wrong
    It's called surface follow
    Blender's very own SlideKnit
It's essential for hard surface modellers or even organic modellers

Addins like Animation Nodes, Manuel Bastioni lab and Sverchok will never be added to offical Blender download for one big reason - size. I do think certain high quality addins should be featured on the blender.org website, and new exciting plugins could be mentioned as an aside in the release logs, to make people aware of the potential of extra functionality.
Working on an epic creative project with superheroes, aliens and lots of T&A - stay tuned!

Seriously ??, i find it difficult these days to buy a small harddisk with less then 1GB space, and blender is only..
315MB or so in a uncompressed folder, compressed as download its only something around 120Mb, and if that would be a constrain for their website (to much data) they could go torrent but so far it seams no problem, in my opinion blender can grow a lot larger.
Ea add as well some popular python libraries, PIL, NUMPY, PYGAME..etc

hi, for the record Animation Nodes, Manuel Lab, Sverchok are not options.
They were never on the 'List' as all developers (the Addons Authors & Blender addons devs & Blender main devs) agree that we are all not ready for such large awesome projects such as these. How to handle there particular addons is a project in itself that is best handled in Blender 2.8.
The above 3 are indeed awesome but they will not be included in the 2.7x series

    Here's my thoughts so far:

mesh edit tools from contrib addons
UI Type: Toolshelf panel with expanding sub panel & menu & hotkey
    Pros:
Single addon made up of multiple related mesh editing tools including selection, extrude & fillets not available or different to Blender builtin.
Can integrate related tools easily such as extrude reshape by mano-wii also from contrib.

    # Contributed to by:
    # meta-androcto, Hidesato Ikeya, zmj100, luxuy_BlenderCN, TrumanBlending, PKHG, #
    # Oscurart, Greg, Stanislav Blinov, komi3D, BlenderLab, Paul Marshall (brikbot), #
    # metalliandy, macouno, CoDEmanX, dustractor, Liero, lijenstina #

    Cons:
Like any mesh editing tools there are corner cases which may fail and return errors. (notes have been attached to each main function in the panel to describe correct use case.)
That said, I've constructed this toolset over many years & when used within the specified use cases, each tool is valid & works as expected.

Full mesh edit tools list is in the task:
    Task: https://developer.blender.org/T50680

    display tools
from addons patch tracker for years
    Pros:
Single addon made up of multiple related display & selection tools.
Fast access to setting up display & selection elements. (includes selection restrict)
    Can integrate related tools easily.
    Cons:
Some duplication of Blender builtin functions.

    Original Task: https://developer.blender.org/T32253
    Current my dev version: https://github.com/meta-androcto/ble...play_tools.zip
    work in progress.

Personally I'm also working on a "Brush Tools" which gives hotkey/menu access to built in sculpt/paint mode brush tools.
The addon is based off this task: https://developer.blender.org/T42564
The new version has all the brush menus to one main menu & one hotkey.
It has been designed to replace the Viewport pie menu Sculpt brushes, as they don't really sit well & will be removed.
    Current my dev version: https://github.com/meta-androcto/ble...rush_modes.zip

The idea of the sculpt brushes addon s good too, it's worth looking into, there's the one that uses a .blend to store the brushes & another that converts a directory of images to brushes.

VSE should also get an opportunity.

Also creative tools should have a voice.
Cubester? drop to ground? pixelate object? crack it?

    keep ideas flowing.
    Thanks.
