[Q] How can i use color id pass/channel to make masks in blender

Im using a different renderer for Blender, its Thea Render and is integrated for Blender. With this renderer is can make object id and material id passes. Now i want to give the Blender compositor a go and see if this is helpfull for me.

I want to make masks useing these color passes. I got something working but each time i need to find the correct value and its a bit time-consuming. I dont have much/none experience with the compositor.

As im a graphic designer i normally do all my editing in Photoshop. Im 1000x faster there but i still wanted to give the compositor a try.

Ive attached a screengrab from what i could find on the internet, but its wonky to get the color. Ive also attached a hi res image of that pass. Perhaps someone could guide me in the right direction
