How do you have transparency while in sculpt mode?

I’m modeling a dress over a human figure. The dress will be semi transparent and I want it to be viewable as semi-transparent while I sculpt the details over the figure so that I can see the way it will render against the skin. Is this possible?

I know how to make it semi transparent in the viewport by changing the material, and I know how to turn on the material color diffuse mode in the object properties section, but object still goes opaque when I switch to sculpt mode. Is this at all possible?

You go under the object properties for the mesh (the tab that’s like a cube), and then scroll down to and expand the display options. Check the box for transparent. Then go to the materials tab for the applied material on the object, go to and expand the settings. Then set the alpha level under the viewport color and the viewport alpha mode. How you set those depends on what your preferences are and what your graphics card or chipset can support.
