see glass through another glass


Hi I´m working on this scene, there is a handrail (glass) that is not visible when the panel window is in front, can anybody help me

Did you shut off transmission in the cycles settings for the handrail object?

Do your glass panes have thickness or are they just plane objects?
If it is the latter, then don’t use a glass shader on them. Any refractive shader needs physically plausible geometry to work correctly, so either give those objects “real” thickness or use a glossy/transparent shader mix for architectural glass.

For thin glass I’d use proper fresnel with nodegroup to invert IOR for bacfacing faces. I wish the fresnel (and layer weight/fresnel) had a unify IOR switch for these cases (pretty much all cases in my case :p).
