Quickly and randomly generate clouds

Are there any tools that would randomly generate between 25 to 50 clouds all at once? I’m not in for precise control of individual clouds, but I like to have control over how much the clouds spread across the sky within an area.

I’d like to use Cycles renderer as I’ve already made a plane with a grid texture and gave it a reflective look (using a glossy node).

Moved from “General Forums > Blender and CG Discussions” to “Support > Materials and Textures” (though depending on your technique, Particles and Physics Simulations or Modeling might also be appropriate instead. Please let me know if you would like this thread moved)

Just what I needed. Thanks.

And I apologize for posting in wrong forum. So many forums and I only wanted solutions after searching Google for no avail.

Would be nice to re-organize the forum category per user though.

And by the way, it is hard to see the blue link in a light-gray text box for quick-reply. Could have erased the first link that I went to, but luckily I didn’t.

Okay, I am using Sky Free and I’m in the process of rendering a simple scene which contains a flat plane with a grid.

It’s an animation with the camera moving forward. The rendering is about half-way done for the camera animation by tomorrow (GTX 960 4GB). The total number of frames is 28,000 at 60 frames per second at 1920x1080.

My question is: Do I have to set up the animations for the cloud in order for the clouds to move slowly? Sky Free has a bunch of nodes and without instructions on how to use it, it’s confusing.

Update after about a half an hour: Actually, I figured that out myself. In the “Cloud” section, I simply play with “Power” and “Multiply” and I’m able to get the cloud to animate.

Problem solved!

P.S.: Please pardon me for bumping the thread. Thought I might ask for help but figured why not play with the nodes and see how it goes. I’m not sure how I could change the direction of the sun, though, given that I have the sun rising from the east.
