wont save a packed file cos it cannot find a file

i do not want to save it as a packed. just save the file
but how do i get rid of the message that pops up every time i try and save the file.
how do i delete a file that is not there and nothing actually needs it!

i did not quite get your question, but i think what you are looking for is how to unpack files from the blend file. if so, its done the same place as you´d pack them. File > External data > unpack all

AHA! i was not looking to unpack it - but that looks like it might solve my problem
