Render seems clipped when using experimental features with 2.78c

Hello,

I am following one of CG Geek’s tutorials on creating a star destroyer and it uses micro-displacement to create the small details however whenever I have the displacement material applied my render seems like it is clipped and I have no idea why. Is there anyone that has an idea about this?




Please ALWAYS supply an example .blend file with any support question.

Are you aware that camera and viewport clipping are two different settings?
Did you check that camera clipping is far enough for an object of that size?

I have checked the clipping setting and they are fine. I have also noticed that one I turn off the subdivision surface modifier which is set to simple and adaptive the clipping effect disappears. The clipping effect also disappears when I turn on smooth shading

The displaement map is doing something. Also the ship has bad geometry.

bigbad is right.

You have a very bad geometry.

Disable adaptive and look at it.


I was getting that when my settings caused the render to run out of memory. I just did the same on mine and don’t see that same kind of issue, so thinking it was memory/settings related.



Good tip though guys - I’m learning so much progressing this tutorial.
